Clara Lim:
A Sprinting Sensation on the Rise
By FWCC Coaches, 2024
Missing out on a spot on her primary school’s Wushu team in 2018, Clara Lim discovered track and field. It instantly sparked a passion that shaped her athletic journey. In seeking success she joined FWCC’s kinetic program to fuel her fire for performance. 6 months into the program she approached the then Head Coach Fabian to take her under his wing directly and since then this dynamic duo have been inseparable in breaking records and taking wins. Coach fabian crafted an ecosystem of dedicated physiotherapists, fellow FWCC coaches, and hardworking teammates, which catapulted Clara to the top as a standout athlete.
Just a year into competing, in 2019, Clara secured her first national medals at the National School Games (NSG) in the 100m and 200m sprints. As she transitioned into secondary education at Raffles Girls’ School, Clara's aspirations continued to grow, fueled by resilience even when the global COVID-19 pandemic halted competitions for two years.
Her comeback in 2022 proved impactful, clinching podium finishes in both 100m (3rd) and 200m (2nd) at the NSG, igniting further motivation and intensive training with her coach. This dedication led Clara to an extraordinary 2023 season—claiming gold in both sprints at NSG and earning a place on the international stage at the SEA Youth Athletic Championships, where she captured silver in the 200m.
Elevating her athletic prowess even further, 2024 saw Clara break her first national record—the 100m NSG A Division—as she secured dual victories in the 100m and 200m events. These outstanding achievements earned her selection for the ASEAN School Games, where she proudly brought home a bronze medal in the 200m from Vietnam.
Currently pursuing her academic ambitions at Raffles Institution and preparing for her A-Level examinations, Clara expertly balances academics and athletics with discipline and determination. Beyond her personal ambitions, Clara is committed to giving back to the athletics community, inspired to mentor and motivate younger athletes as she continues to proudly represent Singapore on the international stage.
